- Olympics
Water polo in
the UK is likely to receive a lift as a result, hopefully particularly
in London (click for David
Sparkes' comments). The host country qualifies
automatically if it is at a competitive level (click for qualification
rules). Water polo, the first team sport in the Olympics,
threatened with removal, remains as part of the games (click for
news).
See the London 2012 site.

of charge and will be holding a number of events there throughout
the year.

- New Referees

- Otter Men's National League triumph

and one loss, winning the National League Division 2 Championships
by 3 clear points. Otter have not been in the first division for
over 30 years. See the NWPL
web site, and Buzz's scurrilous view
from the bench which in no way reflects the views of the club.
In addition, the women's first team completed their second weekend
in the Women's National League Division 3 with two wins and one
loss. Following similar results from their first weekend, this
places them in third place in the league. (30/11/04)
- 2004 Annual Dinner
The Otter Dinner at the Imperial Hotel was a joyous occasion,
with fine bodies of women and men turning out in the most fragrant
outfits to sup fine wines and nibble on tasty dishes, while enjoying
some intellectual tittle-tattle about the year's events. Ok, we
got really bevied and disgraced ourselves (marvellously)
- 2003: Otter men finished
top five in National
League Division 2. Otter women completed their first ever
season of National League competition. In the London League, Men's
1st and 2nd teams finished third in their respective London League
Divisions. The 1st team came equal third, with Sutton and Cheam
and Watford on 22 points, behind Reading on 29 and Hammersmith
Penguin on 27. Otter II finished on 15 points, behind Enfield
on 21 and Southend on 19. Quantities of food and drink were consumed
at the club's annual dinner in November. There may also have been
a speech and some dancing.
ALICANTE: Last year (2003), our tour was to Alicante in Southern
Spain on 8-11 May. We are took two men's teams and a women's team.
We played teams from Madrid, Alicante, Valencia and Portugal.
2002: Otter are probably
the fastest growing and improving water polo club in the UK, winners
of 2002's Men's National League Division III, the Southern Counties
Championship and London League Division I. We now have a women's
team competing regularly and entered in the Women's National League.
The Awards for All committee
for Lottery Grants for Local Groups awarded a grant for £4,961
to Otter Swimming Club to extend our provision of water polo to
women players and potential players (pool hire, coaching fees, equipment,
coach education).
NATIONAL LEAGUE BOOK: Ex-Otter
players are likely to be interested in the excellent booklet "The
First 40 Years" about the National Water Polo League. Details
of how to obtain it are at the
