Men's Team Talks:
|
|
30 minutes before local league fixtures (before
getting changed)
|
|
45 minutes before national league fixtures (before
getting changed)
|
| |
|
Men's first team selection criteria:
- Playing ability - in particular, ability to play at NWPL Div
II standard
- Fitness and speed - selection will depend on the player having
the required fitness and speed for NWPL Div II. Merely attending
the scheduled team training sessions each week will not fulfil
the fitness requirement - some players need to do significant
personal fitness work outside of team training
- The positional needs of the team
- Attendance at team training - the target is a minimum of three
team training sessions a week (note, this is to ensure that the
player is sufficiently aware of and integrated into team tactics
- fitness is a separate matter referred to above)
- Discipline issues - discipline issues, if they arise, are cause
for not selecting a player.
|
Selection, generally is at the discretion of the coach in consultation
with the captains, based on attendance, ability and commitment.
All team members must be members of the club.
|
|
Selection for the men's second team is dependent on a player:
- having notified the captain that they are available and willing
to play
- not having had significant pool time with the 1st team
- having technical ability and awareness comparable or superior
to the rest of team
- having a good level of fitness and speed
- having trained regularly in the previous weeks
- not having outstanding disciplinary issues
|
|
The "A" team exists during transition to bring on talented
younger players in the club and to provide opposition for, and to
build contacts with, strong university and junior teams. The criteria
is:
- The majority of the team will be under 28
- The priority for other places will be given to those with good
training attendance
- Older players may be selected for various positions or because
of captaincy/vice-captaincy
- Players are potential 1st team/Performance Squad members
