Plays - man-up
Playname : Play - man-up rotate right

sketch
1
Objective: To take defence over to the right side in order to shoot from the left.

Description:
An exchange of passes should occur round the perimeter till the play begins.
The attacker at 1 takes the ball into 2 metres.
The attacker at 2 comes round outside the post.
The attacker at 4 moves to the centre of the goal.
The attacker at 5 also moves to his right.

2
The ball is passed from 1 to 2, then from 2 to 4.
4 attacks the goal moving slightly right.

If the defender does not come, he shots.

sketch
3
If the defender does come, he moves the ball round to 5.

If 5 gets the ball, the attacker from the left post moves out to the left wing.

5 can shoot.

4
If the shot is covered, 5 can pass out to the attacker who has moved from the left post for the shot.

If the attackers have a strong, probably left-handed shooter at 1, the play can work the other way: as a Rotate Left.

Either way, 1 and 5 must not hang around inside the 2 metres and need to start coming back to defend.

General coaching points:

Except where a rapid, possibly disguised, pass is required, players should fake and draw the keeper before passing.

Attackers must start to come back when the shot is coming: for example when the player at 5 is about to shot in the initial play described.

The rotation opens up other possibilities: for example, 5 could stay on the wing and the play on the left post could come back into the grap created.
