Objective: To warm up passing, shooting and swimming before a match. This drill is not the most realistic so is of limited use in training.
Description: 3 starts with the ball, who passes it to 2 who in turn passes it to 1. |

Meanwhile 3 moves in a couple of meters and receives the ball back from 1 and shoots.

3 goes to where 2 was, 2 goes to where 1 was and 1 joins the back of the queue. The ball restarts with 4.
A variation for a left-hander is to start passing to the right, so that they are receiving the shooting pass from the left side. |

There are a number of progressions of this drill. The first may be to have the attacker on the left side block having passed (number 2 in the illustration). This can be further progressed to have the right side block as well.

A variation is to have a fourth player blocking between the posts, and attempting to intercept the pass (number 2 in the illustration). The defender moves round to become an attacker with the other players.
This variation can be progressed to have two defenders, and starting to allow more flexibility in the passing and faking. Coaching points: Kick up for and make sure of the passes. |
