Passing
Playname : Drill - passing in a circle

1

Objective: To practice ability to turn and pass and to improve condition.

Description: Players in groups of 5 or more, with two balls and with one player in the middle. It is preferable to have an odd number of players around the outside so that the passing sequence is variable.

The balls start with two adjacent players on the outside. The player in the middle receives from the outside player and passes the ball on to the next player but one. Thus 1 passes to the middle, who passes to 3. Then 2 passes to the middle who passes to 4.

2

Then 3 passes to the middle, who passes on to 5. Then 4 passes to the middle, who passes to 1. The passing continues.

This exercise should be done in short bursts, 30 seconds and then change.

Coaching points: The middle player should maintain good body position, legs and non-passing arm working hard. All catches and passes should be good quality. Players on the outside should kick up to make the pass.
