31 July 2010

The water polo section of Otter Swimming Club is one of the fastest improving and growing in the UK, offering over seven hours of coached water polo and swimming per week to members. The club fields three men's teams and two women's teams.

We train at various central London locations and emphasise not only high quality competitive water polo, but fun in and out of the water. We compete in the English nationals and many leagues. Every summer, we join a tournament in Europe to compete against other teams and to have fun with our team mates.

Men's Team

The men's teams compete in National League Division II, London Premier League, ASA Championships , National League Division IV, London League Division I, the Thameside League and Middlesex League.

Women's Team

There are two women's teams, which play in the top National League Division I, National League Division III, Winter League and ASA tournaments. The Division I team is one of the leading female squads in Great Britain and have been the London League Champions for the last two years. The two teams train together, and also have lots of fun outside the pool.

History

Otter is one of the great names in British water polo and swimming. The club was founded in 1869, played in the first recorded English water polo championship in 1888 and was a founder member of the National Water Polo League in 1962. The water polo side of the club is one of the fastest growing in the UK, since its restart in 2002. The teams have worked their way up to compete in the top level of UK competition within a few years of re-entering the National League, a result not in the least due to the "work hard - but enjoy" ethos that permeates the club.

Contact

If you are interested in playing for Otter, please contact Leon Estrella (men's captain) or Tracy Wheeler (women's captain). We are always looking for new players, particularly those who want to play at the top level in the UK.
